About my header

My shed is my header by my son Darrell, He painted the Robin for me and said that it reminded him of me. Because Robins use other birds nest and if there is an egg in it, they will take care of it just like its their own. He said thats what I do, I have always taken care of others in need of a home when I come across someone in need. Isnt that Sweet, I had told him I wanted a bird and this is the one he chose. Robins have solid blue eggs which are the symbols for him and his brothers and the speckled egg are the others I have taken into my home. It was very touching to me because he researched his piece, He is a true artist and has lots of great jobs. my neighbor had hers done to

THERE WERE SOME GREAT TIPS ABOUT APPLIQUEING SENT WITH THIS PATTERN,  BIASED.
MY MOM LOVES THESE COLORS AND I PROMISED TO MAKE HER A GIFT THIS YEAR WITH THEM. I WAS INSPIRED TO CREATE AN APPLIQUE PROJECT WHO MY MOM IS.

I USED A FABRIC GLUE STICK TO ATTACH ALL THE CUT OUTS, then !

I HAD BEEN BROWSING A QUILT STORE AND FOUND THIS PRODUCT THAT CAPTURED MY INTEREST, SLICKER, IT MAKES FABRIC INTO PLIABLE VINYL, GREAT FOR COSMETIC BAGS OR COIN PURSES. ITS WASHABLE AND EASY TO SEW WITH.  JUST IRON IT ON ! NOW ITS ALL FUSED ONTO MY FABRIC

ABOUT MY MOM, WHO  DRINKS COFFEE 24/7 AND CAN SLEEP AFTERWARDS, SHE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL CARD MAKER, THEY CALL HER THE CARDLADY. SHE ALSO IS A PERSONAL CHEF AND RUNS A CATERING BUSINESS, HENCE THIS IS A LADY IN A CHEF'S JACKET.

so I designed a VINYL desk mat. it will roll up and travel with her. she travels often to conventions about stamping. (notice the word Stamper) its washable too. I used stamps she has given me to create my own fabric pattern on some Bella Moda GOLD Solid.

After ironing on the vinyl on top of my art work, I sewed a Fat Quarter of Jay McCarroll Center City to the back as if I were making a sausage pillow case, using the French seam technique.  There is no batting due to the surface must be flat for stamping. When  the stamping mat becomes dirty, throw it in the washing machine or wipe clean. The vinyl is soft.

My mother has many talents and has always been creative with what God has given her. She is beautiful and talented.

So, its not all about Me, but its me being like my Mother.

Enjoy the rest of the Hop
LOVE, XO SHIRLEY

  55. Just lovely! Great tribute too!
They showed us that Slicker stuff in a sewing class. I haven't tried it, and I need to.
I got to meet Nancy Zieman recently and hear her lectures and demonstrations. She told us to use a regular old glue stick on fabrics because it wasn't as gummy as a fabric glue stick. She used one on her landscape quilts.
