About my header

My shed is my header by my son Darrell, He painted the Robin for me and said that it reminded him of me. Because Robins use other birds nest and if there is an egg in it, they will take care of it just like its their own. He said thats what I do, I have always taken care of others in need of a home when I come across someone in need. Isnt that Sweet, I had told him I wanted a bird and this is the one he chose. Robins have solid blue eggs which are the symbols for him and his brothers and the speckled egg are the others I have taken into my home. It was very touching to me because he researched his piece, He is a true artist and has lots of great jobs. my neighbor had hers done to

SIMPLESEW UMBRELLA TRIMMINGS COMPETITION wall hanging

2014 Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition
Umbrella Prints is an Australian textile house specializing in organic printed fabrics and a boutique range of thoughtful and useful product.

For the last 5 years they have held a competition with their scrap bundles. This will be my 2nd year to enter the challenge. I like a good challenge and even if I dont place, I still accomplish something with other artist of my kind. Hey ! this competiton isnt just quilts, its all kinds of art. Dont miss out seeing this pinterest board. Its amazing what people develope out of these few scraps.

You buy these scraps and post it. my scraps post on this blog post.
Now I will share with you what I made, mostly in pictures. I made a wall quilt, for my Granddaughter due June 26. When she is born I will stitch the Baby info in the dresden centers, We know her name is Carolina Lee Branski.
Quilt name is Carolina , she is 24.5 x 28 inches, Fabric used for the dresden plates is the umbrella trimmings and the quilt fabric is Arizona by April Rhodes by Art Gallery, its due out in August, I just happen to win a bundle from Jaybirdquilts hop. The colors are luscious, sensuous, and went so well with the warm umbrella trimmings packet I chose. I made a 1 inch dresden plate and created the circle with bleached white Essex linen. Binding in a Gold Bella Solid. I appliqued and blanket stitched it on.  This is so far my best FMQ, me, the fabric, thread and design were just in motion. I created as I went.  Using this iridescent thread for FMQ.
